Aberdeen / Stavanger, July 3, 2025 – UK-headquartered engineering services firm EnerMech has won a three-year firm contract, with two optional extensions of two years each, from Dana Petroleum to support the Triton FPSO—located approximately 120 miles east of Aberdeen in the North Sea.
Under the agreement, EnerMech will deliver comprehensive offshore shutdown support, including:
Flange management and bolt torque/tensioning
On-site machining
Gas purging with nitrogen, and leak detection using nitrogen and helium
Drain-Flush-Purge-Vent procedures
These services aim to ensure safe, efficient—and regulatory-compliant—operations during maintenance periods .
Furthermore, EnerMech will deploy its proprietary SIMPro (System Integrity Management) software, providing real-time asset health data and full lifecycle tracking—an increasingly vital tool in subsea integrity management.
Operating since 2012, the Triton FPSO handles production from several subsea fields—Bittern, Clapham, Pict, Saxon, and Guillemot—drawing from infrastructure installed since oil production began in 2000. Dana Petroleum holds a 52% stake, partnered with Serica Energy (46%) and Waldorf (2%) .
Following schedule disruptions caused by Storm Éowyn in January, the Triton FPSO entered a late-life maintenance phase; EnerMech’s support is critical for its restart and extended operations into the late 2020s.
Clad plates—steel composites with a structural core (usually carbon steel) and a corrosion-resistant clad layer (e.g., stainless steel or nickel alloy)—play a crucial role in preserving offshore infrastructure:
Combatting Corrosion: FPSO components encounter seawater, H₂S, and CO₂. Clad plates protect critical parts such as risers, manifolds, and pressure vessels.
Retrofitting Capability: Instead of replacing entire units, clad liners can be integrated inside existing equipment, minimizing downtime—perfect for shutdown operations.
Cost Efficiency: Clad plates offer the corrosion resistance of exotic alloys at 30–50% lower cost, while maintaining load-bearing integrity.
In EnerMech’s scope—flanges, bolting interfaces, pipelines, and pressure equipment—clad solutions enhance reliability and reduce maintenance frequency, directly supporting SIMPro-enabled integrity tracking.
For Dana Petroleum: The extended support ensures safe, cost-effective reactivation and prolonged life of Triton FPSO—crucial to sustaining production from mature fields.
For EnerMech: The contract underscores their growing presence in North Sea maintenance services and digital asset management.
For Materials Sector: Rising use of clad plates in legacy offshore units like Triton highlights growing demand for retrofitting materials in life-extension projects.
