Kitimat, British Columbia – August 4, 2025 – A strategic joint venture between Fluor Corporation and JGC Corporation has recently been entrusted with the Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) responsibilities for the proposed Phase 2 expansion of the LNG Canada facility, located on Haisla Nation's traditional territory. This announcement follows the successful launch of the site’s inaugural LNG shipment under Phase 1, a project where the JV was deeply involved in engineering, procurement, fabrication oversight, construction, and commissioning.
The existing LNG plant—boasting a unique position on Canada’s west coast, with steady access to cost-effective natural gas and an ice-free port—comprises the nation’s pioneering LNG export facility with a capacity of up to 14 million tonnes per year. It plays a key role in reducing carbon emissions by providing a cleaner alternative to coal-fired energy systems.
Phase 2 aims to significantly enhance LNG Canada’s processing, storage, and export capacities. While formal investment approval has not yet been granted, the JV is readying detailed designs to support strategic decisions ahead.

Mike Alexander, Fluor’s Business Group President for Energy Solutions, remarked:
“We’ve been a proud partner of LNG Canada through Phase 1, and we look forward to contributing to the next chapter of this world-class facility,” applauding the project owners for their forward-looking approach and commitment to advancing cleaner energy solutions.
The LNG Canada venture involves a consortium of industry leaders—including Shell, Petronas, PetroChina, Mitsubishi Corporation, and KOGAS—united in driving Canada’s emergence as a major LNG exporter.
Large-scale projects like LNG facilities demand materials that can endure extreme pressure, temperature fluctuations, and corrosive conditions. FUGO TECH offers advanced clad plate solutions tailored to these rigorous needs:
Hybrid construction combining the strength of carbon steel with the corrosion resistance of stainless or specialty alloy faces.
Manufactured using cutting-edge methods such as explosion welding and roll bonding, ensuring durable bonds and consistent quality.
Available in a wide array of materials—stainless steel, titanium, nickel alloys, copper alloys, and custom multi-layer configurations—for bespoke project requirements.
Engineered specifically for critical components like pressure vessels, heat exchangers, piping, and storage tanks, all integral to LNG infrastructure.
By integrating FUGO TECH’s clad plates into FEED-level designs, project planners can enhance component safety, longevity, and cost efficiency—critical considerations for complex facilities like LNG Canada Phase 2.
Nanjing Fugo New Material Tech Co., Ltd. (Fugo Tech) is an ISO 9001 and PED certified manufacturer specializing in Clad Plates and Machined Components (tube sheet, baffle plate, and dish head).
FUGO delivers tailored clad plate solutions using stainless steel, nickel alloys, titanium, copper, aluminum, zirconium, tantalum, and more—engineered for high-performance & corrosion-critical applications.
Our expertise extends to cutting-edge clad plate supplier capabilities, where we utilize controlled detonation techniques to create seamless molecular bonds between dissimilar metals, ensuring unmatched durability and thermal performance. Beyond plate manufacturing, we offer integrated head forming services, shaping clad materials into precision hemispherical or elliptical heads for pressure vessels and reactors.
